Unite

Unite – the vision of the future.

The new big idea.

The United Kingdom must unite.  For far too long people have been emphasising differences.  We have ignored those things that unite us.  We must come together in common cause for the common good of everybody.

We are now experiencing cuts, rising unemployment and growing insecurity.  But not everyone is.  There is a feeling that the rich and the bankers are still living a life of luxury while others take the strain.  There is a division between rich and poor.

There are people from all over the world, who have come to Britain to make a life for themselves here.  They saw this as a land of opportunity.  All one hears in the street or so it seems are foreign languages.  We see an influx of workers as a threat to our own jobs and an influx of families as a threat to our schools, housing and hospitals.

Instead of point out the differences, we must look to unite.  We have far more in common than divides us.  Together we can build a future of harmony, tolerance and peace.  Left to our own devices we produce goods and services.  We can study and learn and what we produce over a life time of work is worth far more than the amount we are paid.

A Polish worker may not earn must in a week but the buildings in central London that they build are worth millions.  Do not value someone by what they earn but by what they produce and the quality of their workmanship.  It is not what you do that matters; it is how well you do it that counts.

We must emphasise the power of coming together over the destruction of falling apart.   Never before in the history of mankind have we had greater technological means to improve the quality of life and the standard of living of all the people.  It is surely an opportunity not to be missed.  If we help each other, we can be stronger.  If we work together, we can do more. And if we spend time together, we can learn more.

We have become automatons, listening to earphones, looking straight ahead and our minds are somewhere else.  We must learn to smile in the street, to make it friendly once again.  We must remember our manners.  They show our respect for each other.  And we must be considerate of others.  Others will then become more considerate of us.
